I believe respect is the most important aspect in a student to teacher relationship.  However, there are many ways in which respect can be carried about.  In one instance, respect can be used as a militant reserve in which fear is a bigger part of the relationship.  

 

Personally, I believe this strategy is truly disgraceful because it tends to put the student in an inferior position.  In our class the type of respect I agree with is displayed.  This respect is mutual between student and most importantly, the teacher.

I met Dr. Jeff Karon when I was looking for a writing tutor for my 16-year-old son, Mackenzie. From the very first telephone conversation with Jeff, I knew he was the right tutor for Mackenzie (and our family). Jeff is extremely passionate about writing, but even more impressive, is his ability to relate to and treat Mackenzie like an adult—something all of today’s teenagers, Mackenzie included—desperately desire. Needless to say, under Jeff’s tutelage, Mackenzie’s writing blossomed tremendously and I now feel completely confident about his newfound talents, as my husband and I prepare to send him off to college to pursue his dream of becoming a mechanical engineer.

 

That accomplishment would also not have been possible with Jeff’s assistance, especially as it relates to the college application process and preparing Mackenzie for the SAT. Jeff was incredibly patient with Mackenzie (and me) as I presented him with multiple challenges regarding “the perfect college essay” for several different colleges, universities and associated scholarship opportunities.
