[You have] helped me in two very important ways:

[The class] has improved my English writing skills tremendously.  The different techniques taught and learned will stick to me forever.

My growth/development spiritually as a person has improved.  The integration of honor, strategy, and writing has made me question what I say and how I act.  I have grown and the lessons in Chinese heritage that was taught to me by my parents reinforced.  Thank you.

I believe respect is the most important aspect in a student to teacher relationship.  However, there are many ways in which respect can be carried about.  In one instance, respect can be used as a militant reserve in which fear is a bigger part of the relationship.

Personally, I believe this strategy is truly disgraceful because it tends to put the student in an inferior position.  In our class the type of respect I agree with is displayed.  This respect is mutual between student and most importantly, the teacher.

I think you should put a quote in the student manual that says something about uniqueness.  You seem to accept anyone, and not judge our differences.  That openmindedness is a great quality.  You let students thrive on being unique and being an individual.  Thank you for that.

I wanted to say this course has motivated me to think about my daily life in a different way.  The concepts of this course on honor and battle have motivated me to incorporate them into my daily life.

I met Dr. Jeff Karon when I was looking for a writing tutor for my 16-year-old son, Mackenzie. From the very first telephone conversation with Jeff, I knew he was the right tutor for Mackenzie (and our family). Jeff is extremely passionate about writing, but even more impressive, is his ability to relate to and treat Mackenzie like an adult—something all of today’s teenagers, Mackenzie included—desperately desire. Needless to say, under Jeff’s tutelage, Mackenzie’s writing blossomed tremendously and I now feel completely confident about his newfound talents, as my husband and I prepare to send him off to college to pursue his dream of becoming a mechanical engineer.

That accomplishment would also not have been possible with Jeff’s assistance, especially as it relates to the college application process and preparing Mackenzie for the SAT. Jeff was incredibly patient with Mackenzie (and me) as I presented him with multiple challenges regarding “the perfect college essay” for several different colleges, universities and associated scholarship opportunities. Also, through working with Jeff, Mackenzie’s overall SAT score increased more than 300 points from the time he initially started working with Jeff on test strategies. I believe both of these factors played a key role in Mackenzie’s acceptance at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan, his number 1 and 2 choices, respectively.

Jeff is extremely intelligent, well-versed in his profession and we all consider him a great friend. I am pleased to give Jeff our highest recommendation.
